In plain words: what we keep, for how long, and who can see it.
What this service is
Stingforce Report passes what you tell us to an investigative unit that works on scams and fraud. It is kept separate from the investigators' own systems on purpose: they cannot reach into it, and it cannot reach into theirs.
While you are writing
Your answers and files are saved on our servers as you go, so you can stop and come back. Only you can see them. Nobody at the investigative unit sees anything until you press send.
When you press send
- Your answers and files are locked (encrypted) so that only the investigative unit can open them. Once locked, we cannot read them.
- We email you your own copy: your answers, and your files (attached when they are small enough, otherwise listed with their fingerprints).
- We delete our readable copy straight away. The locked copy is deleted seven days after the investigative unit has collected it.
Messages
Messages from an investigator are kept so you can read them. Your own messages are kept in your account so you can see the conversation, and are sent to the investigator locked, like a report.
Notifications
Our emails and phone notifications only ever say that something is waiting for you. They never mention the scam, names, amounts or the investigator's words.
What we keep about you
Your email address, and your name and phone number if you give them. A log of sign-ins, invitations opened, reports sent and messages (when, not what), to protect your account and to show what happened if something goes wrong.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from the Account page. That deletes everything we still hold for you that has not been sent. What you already sent belongs to the investigation and is kept by the investigative unit under the law that governs it.
Identity checks
We do not check anyone's identity yet. If we add an identity check, it will be optional unless an investigator asks for it, and this notice will say who does it and what they keep.
